White Horse Contractors Ltd were employed to design and install a new drainage system to ground number one and to design and rebuild ground number four at Jerudong Park Polo Club in Brunei.

Purpose built equipment was shipped in sea containers to Brunei and works commenced in August 2008.

Royal Brunei Polo Club

Seventeen thousand metres of drainage was installed and twenty thousand metres cubed of sand was placed and graded over a 12 week construction period. The grounds were reseeded with local warm season grasses containing both Pas-palum and Zoysia matrella. The seeding method was hydrospriging and subsequent maintenance included intensive irrigation and liquid fertiliser application.

Given the phenomenal rainfall events during the month of February following the intensive drainage installation in ground number one, the performance of the newly drained ground was described by the polo management team as fantastic. A total of 1.1m of rain fell during the month with one particularly significant event of 200mm in 16 hours.

The success of the project has been met with universal acclaim and has redefined the capability of White Horse Contractors international activities.
