White Horse Contractors Invites Architects to Twickenham

Architects involved in designing sports grounds for Building Schools for the Future (BSF) schemes are invited to a seminar at Twickenham Stadium with a keynote address by Steve Williams, the FA’s National Facilities Manager on 2nd December, hosted by White Horse Contractors and TigerTurf.

Also presenting at the seminar will be Peter Kay, the FA's Investment Manager, who will explain the FA's experiences and future proposals around the BSF programme.

White Horse Contractors, the specialist in constructing natural grass and artificial sports surfaces for state of the art sports grounds, and the leading provider of sports facilities for the Building Schools for the Future programme is hosting the event with TigerTurf, UK manufacturers of synthetic surfaces for the education market.

“The FA is reinforcing its commitment to providing the highest standard of sports facilities at grass roots level with the launch of its BSF strategy,” said Jason Douglass, Business Development Manager of White Horse Contractors, “By raising architects’ awareness of the importance of specialist involvement in a scheme through this seminar day, White Horse Contractors and TigerTurf aim to ensure that sports facilities are dealt with as part of the BSF project infrastructure in hand, and not as an afterthought to the buildings themselves.”

Working closely with architects and main contractors, White Horse Contractors is currently providing its services to BSF projects in Northampton, Lewisham, North Swindon, Lancashire, Bromsgrove, Leeds, Solihull, Redcar, Slough and St Albans. By taking a holistic approach to the design and construction of sports grounds, White Horse Contractors is able to introduce innovations in design and process that can drive out cost and time from a project.

Co-hosting the event, TigerTurf specialises in providing the right surface to meet the needs of both pupil and teacher throughout the education sector. “TigerTurf has developed a range of synthetic turf surfaces specifically with the BSF projects in mind. This seminar is a fantastic opportunity to deliver to architects an understanding of these surfaces and the benefits they can offer to the schools,” said Jennifer Holland from TigerTurf.

“The FA has recognised the importance of the Building Schools for the Future programme for football; it is therefore key that this once in a lifetime opportunity to influence sporting designs provides a legacy for many years to come,” said Steve Williams, National Facilities Manager of the FA.
