Case Study: Polo field irrigation and reservoir construction

Project: Construction of 2No. Irrigation reservoirs

Client: Private Client

Detailed Design: White Horse Contractors Limited

Principle Contractor: White Horse Contractors Limited

1No. Contract Value: £ 60,500.00 approx 1.35million gallons capacity

2No. Contract Value: £ 53,000.00 approx 800,000 gallons capacity

Both projects involved modifying and enlarging the existing facilities. With careful computer aided design we were able to provide the client with the required storage facility for the irrigation of the polo lawns as well as ‘stick and ball’ areas on two neighbouring estates.

Once constructed the reservoirs were lined in-situ with a triple layer system comprising of a 0.75mm Excelastic membrane sandwiched between a 400gm/m ² Geotextile overlay and underlay.

A ‘wet-well’ pumping chamber and associated pipework was installed adjacent to each reservoir. Water level in the chambers was the same as in the reservoir; this gave the facility to extract water from the reservoir without damaging the liner membrane.

Bore holes were drilled and connected to the ‘wet-well’ chambers via float switches, this allowed the reservoir to replenish its water level after periods of irrigation. Whether it’s polo field project or a reservoir construction, we’d love to discuss your project.
