30th Sep 2021

White Horse Contractors are selected to construct and install multiple hybrid pitches, training areas and elite sports infrastructure at QPR’s new training ground.

White Horse & The Hoops

Bringing over 60 years of experience, White Horse Contractors will design and construct state of the art hybrid turf football pitches at QPR’s new Heston training ground.

White Horse's Technical Director, Dr James Welsh has been in contact with QPR’s representatives for an extensive period, supporting their project design team.

This collaborative approach, built on confidence and trust will ensure the club's First Team and U23s will benefit from exceptional pitches, suitable for elite football into the future.

White Horse Contractors will welcome hybrid turf partners GrassMaster Solutions to work with them on this project. The wider project will include a comprehensive drainage system, fully automated irrigation, energy-efficient under pitch heating and wider site infrastructure.

A complete reconstruction

Careful design and planning of the new training ground will ensure the elite pitches mirror the exact specification of “The Hoops” Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium pitch.

The Championship clubs existing training ground will be completely reconstructed to ensure sustained success into the future.

“We are extremely proud to have been selected to construct QPR’s football pitches as part of their mission to build a new and bespoke home for their players and coaching staff.

This is a landmark moment for White Horse and is testament to all involved that we are here, ready to break ground and begin the next chapter of our journey with the Club.”

The importance of being hybrid

The Championship itself is known as the breeding ground for many rising stars through the football league, with an intense schedule consisting of 46 games a season. This volume of fixtures means that all teams play multiple matches within a game week.

For First Team Manager Mark Warburton and his coaching staff, QPR's new hybrid pitches will increase quality throughout the league season. For QPR, these new stitched pitches create an opportunity to own and develop the training ground to the clubs’ bespoke needs. The pitches are of a premium standard, befitting of an aspirational side looking to reach the heights of the footballing pyramid.

White Horse Contractors have begun mobilisation and clearing of existing structures at the Heston site, continuing to build on the established relationship with the Club during this process.
