NEWS: White Horse appointed by Eastleigh Borough Council

17th Aug 2021

White Horse Contractors have been selected to construct three new natural turf pitches and additional landscaping works for a new green open space and sports infrastructure project, in Hampshire.

Breaking ground for the Eastleigh community

Following a brief being set by Eastleigh Borough Council, renowned sports turf consultants TGMS created the designs for this new scheme, and White Horse Contractors are thrilled to be constructing their vision. The project includes hard and soft landscaping, new sports pitches, and an access road to the new facilities.

Our experienced operatives have commenced earthworks of the existing grounds to construct three new natural turf pitches and a beautiful soft landscaping backdrop for local residents to enjoy.

The new development will provide local residents and sports teams with access to fantastic sports and green open space facilities. The scheme includes planting and landscaping that will enhance local biodiversity on the Hampshire site.

Experience on the south coast

Contracts Manager Tom Iles is excited to get going on-site, having previously worked with Eastleigh Borough Council on their Stoneham Lane Football Complex project.

Tom knows the expectations and standards that the council requires, which he is sure will be delivered again:

“Knowing that we have a strong relationship with TGMS and the council has been of great help to our team in the opening weeks of the project, ensuring that we are aligned on what the council want to achieve for the new sporting facilities and outdoor space will be extremely beneficial going forward, I’m excited to see how we at White Horse can transform the existing land and construct a new green space for public use.”

Benefitting the local community and sports teams

With a track record of high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, our construction team will be on-site throughout the summer. The new sports pitches will be constructed to Sport England Level 5 specification with extensive primary and secondary drainage to ensure maximum performance and durability. This will benefit not only members of the local community but also local grassroots team Hedge End Rangers, who have had to ground hop in previous years.

Local Councillor Cynthia Garton is pleased to see the works going ahead as planned:

“I’m delighted to officially get this new exciting scheme underway. The provision of these much-needed local community sports facilities will provide opportunities for local people to be more active, improve their physical and mental wellbeing as well as encouraging greater social interaction. We will also be enhancing biodiversity of the area with enhanced planting and landscaping for local people to enjoy.”

The project is set for completion in 2022.
