We return to Kenilworth Road, to renovate Luton Football Club’s pitch, ready for 2022/23

7th Jun 2022

Following the successful delivery of natural turf training ground and stadium pitch renovations prior to the 2021/22 season (which saw LTFC reach the play-offs). White Horse were re-appointed by Head Groundsman Richard Bird, in preparation for the 2022/23 season.

Continued turfcare success

We continue to build on our strong relationship with Luton Town FC. With our Technical Director Dr James Welsh and Luton's Head Groundsman Richard Bird continuing to collaborate when it comes to LTFC's pitch projects. With a hugely positive impact following the club's investments in pitch facilities in recent years leading to multiple promotions to The Championship. The club hierarchy, the management team, the players and the Hatter’s fans have benefited from these improvements at the training ground and Kenilworth Road.
The renovations at Kenilworth Road began in May of this year, with the weather much more favourable than last year’s project!

See 2021’s timelapse video, where you can see, our team worked through horrendous conditions to deliver the project on time and to specification last year.

In 2022, Manager Nathan Jones led the team to a successful season, finishing in the play-offs. The team fell just short of a remarkable story, but it was a season to be proud of. The pitches that Luton’s first team plays on have a huge impact on how well they perform every week. With renovations at “The Kenny” complete, and the growing in period in motion, we’re sure that Luton Town will be continuing their form in The Championship again in 2022.

Time to take your hat off to the team

Contracts Manager Tom Iles and Site Foreman Chris Hawkes sprayed the pitch, weeks prior to utilising one of six new John Deere tractors and Koro FTM at the ground.

This gave White Horse the opportunity to complete the two passes of koroing, prior to applying 80 ton of sand, within the fixed programme schedule. Head Groundsman Richard Bird joined Chris and his team on site ensuring every part of the renovations project was to his standard.
Again, we would like to thank Richard and his team for their consistent communication throughout the renovation process and look forward to seeing the pitch growth over the upcoming weeks and months.

The highest standard of work

Providing elite football teams with the natural and hybrid pitches they require to perform at the highest standard is paramount to our renovations team. With Luton Town, Charlton Athletic, QPR, Watford and Oxford United all working with our team this renovations season, we have ensured successful delivery of natural and hybrid renovations for a number of the countries top clubs.
